Relaxing, Green and Romantic Weekend in Burgundy, Along The Route Des Grands Crus
As those of you who follow me on Instagram have maybe noticed, I spent a fantastic long weekend in Burgundy last week. My boyfriend and I needed to escape hot and overcrowded Paris and decided to travel along the Route Des Grands Crus, Burgundy’s most famous wine route.
This itinerary was an excellent choice to combine relax and adventure, history and nature.
We both fell in love with this beautiful region, its countryside, its vineyards… and I decided to dedicate a little post on my blog to it.
Of course, this post doesn’t pretend to be a touristic guide of the Route des Grands Crus, but rather a list of to-do-activities based on my very own experience for those of you who would like to spend a relaxing, green and romantic weekend far away from big cities.
Below you will find 3 things you absolutely have to experience while traveling in Burgundy.
1. Visit some beautiful cities and villages along the Route des Grands Crus
There are many enchanting cities and villages along the Route des Grands Crus: real treasures of art and history!
Based on my experience, I recommend three:
– Dijon, the capital city of Bourgogne-Franche-Compté region, whose historical center is a UNESCO World Heritage site
– Beaune, the real wine capital of Burgundy, whose city center will enchant you
– The village of Meursault. Our airbnb was in Meursault and I fell in love with this village!
2. Have a bike tour among the vineyards of the Route des Grands Crus
I was a little doubtful when I was proposed to bike touring along the Route des Grands Crus, but it is definitely the one experience you cannot miss if you go to Burgundy!
Be reassured, Burgundy doesn’t have very high hills, which makes biking much easier.
Visiting a part of the Route des Grands Crus by bike will allow you to feel completely surrounded and immersed in the countryside. You can take your time while pedaling to admire the vineyards all around. You can stop whenever you want to observe the wonderful views which open in front of you or to have a pick-nick in the shade of a tree… So romantic!
3. Visit different wine tasting farms along the Route des Grands Crus
Last but not least… Don’t forget that Burgundy is famous worldwide for its wines! Along the Route des Grands Crus, you will find such a huge quantity of wine tasting farms that you won’t be able to taste them all!
A great experience to discover all secrets of wine production and to enjoy yourself 😉
